On Campus Field Trip

As part of Taka's "Ancestor" unit for social studies, the Heritage Tour Company did present a special assembly for his class. It was like a little play. Taka was a boy from Russia. (This picture is a Russian Family.) And they learned many different reason why people came to America.

I got a letter from Taka's teacher about it and Taka was so excited about the on-campus field trip. But it was just one hour field trip (not going anywhere...). He enjoyed it but also he was disappointed. Teacher should name this more like an extracurricular lesson or something.

たあくんの学校でオンキャンパス・フィールド・トリップ、直訳すると校内遠足。歴史的な事を扱うツアー会社の人が来て、子供にでも分かるよう、生徒に役をつけ、演じさせながら、いろいろな国からアメリカに移住してきた、様々な理由を学んだ。たあくんはロシアから来た男の子の役で、周りにいるのは家族。

しかし、このレッスン、たったの１時間。校内遠足といっていたので、たあくんは物凄く楽しみにしていたのに、たったの１時間で終わってしまい、ちょっとがっかり。これなら課外授業とかちょっと違う名前にしてくれれば良かったのに。
