Prepare for New Year's Holiday

Japanese New Year's Day is just like American Christmas Day. All family get together and eat special foods.








These are one of New Year's decoration, Kagamimochi and Shimenawa. We put these on a household Shinto altar or top of the front door.



There is many kind of special food in New Year's holiday. But my family dose not like that so my mother make only few thing. Left picture, she is making Mochi that is rice cake.



Right picture is Cooked root vegetable and sea weed.
In addition to this, there is Datemaki that is a fish omlet rolled up and cut into thick slices, Zouni that is mochi in the soup.

初めてのご飯 Naoki's first meal

大平山にお参りに行ったときに、お食い始め用のお米を貰った。お米は検疫を通さずにアメリカに持って帰ることが出来ないので、帰る前に、おかゆを食べさせてみた。が、あんまり好きじゃないらしい・・・。一口食べただけで、後は口を開けてくれなかった。

Naoki ate first time. It was soft rice. But I guess he dose not like it. He would not open his mouth.

お好み焼き Okonomiyaki

友達とお好み焼きを食べに行った。小山のクリモト。メンバーはももちゃん、ユカリン、それからアキちゃん。










今日は、車を貸し出し中で、いつも乗っている車がなかったので、じじの車を借りていった。

ももちゃんはお好み焼きを焼くのがとっても上手。ぜ～んぶ、ももちゃんが焼いてくれた。ももちゃん、ありがと～！！！美味しかった～。

アキちゃん、おみやげありがとう。たあくん、めちゃめちゃ喜んで、みんなに見せびらかしてたよ～。








ユカリン、遠くから来てくれてありがとね。楽しかった。

We went to eat Okonomiyaki which is Japanese Pizza. I love it!!! These are my friends, Momochan, Yukarin, Akichan and her kids.

紙オムツ Diaper

持ってきたオムツが終わってしまい、かぶれが無かったパンパースなら大丈夫だと思って日本のパンパースを買ったら、なおくんのおしりが赤くなってしまった・・・。で、違うメーカーのオムツを買った。
日本のオムツはひたすら可愛い！！！
動物がたくさん付いてて、その動物達が非常に可愛い。次に来るときもオムツは必要だろうし、このオムツがなおくんに合えばいいな。

I thought I brought plenty diaper but I was out of it. So I bought Pampers that same as US', yet it was different... Naoki got diaper rash...
I bought diffrent company one. Japanese diapers are so cute!!! I love it!!! I am not sure this diaper is OK for Naoki's skin. Hopefuly it will be.

クリスマス Christmas

今日はクリスマス。我が家はクリスチャンでは無いけれど、出来るだけいつも通りにしようと言うことで、プレゼントを用意して、小さいツリーの周りに置いて、サンタさんがきちんと来てくれたようにした。





たあくんには、仮面ライダーのベルト、ウルトラマン・リュウケンドーの人形、リュウケンドーの武器、ラジコン・カー。それから、いっこちゃんからお菓子のたくさん入ったブーツ。




なおくんにはおっぱい型のおもちゃ、がらがら、へびさんのおもちゃ、ラッパ。おっぱい型のおもちゃがやっぱり一番好きらしい。

そして、みんなでケーキを食べた。このケーキ、セブンイレブンのケーキなんだけれども、めちゃめちゃ美味しかった。






Today is Christmas Day. My family is not Christian but we did just like I was at home. Our Christmas is just like Valentine's Day. We spend a time with boyfriend or girlfriend. I prepare Christmas present for kids that pretend Santa came.

しんこ饅頭

田沼名物・しんこ饅頭を頂いた。あまりにも美味しいのでたあくんと２人で３個も食べてしまった。毎回、日本に帰ってくると太る・・・。今回も量っていないけれど、きっと増えているだろう。

We got Shiko-Mnju that one of Japanes sweet from my Dad friend. It was so GOOD, so me and Taka ate three of them. Every time I come to Japan, I gain weight. I am sure I did this time too yet I have not check.

プール Swimming Pool

昨日、１ヶ月間限定のスイミングが終わった。月・水・金の週３回、休みなく行った。

アメリカのスイミングでは最初からクロールだったけれど、日本ではけのびが出来ないので、水慣れのクラスに入った。ほとんど遊びなので、浮き輪も付けて、かなり楽しかったみたい。

Taka went to swimming lesson for one month. He was learning swim in US but because he is not tall enough so he was in play class. He was playing in the water all the time with his friends.

寒いのに・・・ It so cold, but...

たあくんが、この寒いのに花火をしたいと言った。しかも、奥の方から去年の夏の残りの花火を引っ張り出してきた。

お父さんと、お母さんと花火。「たぁくん、楽しい～。」って花火してた。

Taka wanted to do fire works even though it is so cold. Also he found left over fire works from last summer.

クリスマスライト第３弾 X'mas light part 3

また、クリスマスライトを見に行った。今回はお母さんと。本当にどこもかしこもクリスマスライト。

たあくんは、なぜか１００円ショップでトナカイの角を欲しがり、付けてサンタと写真を撮るんだと言い張って、付けていった。写真が撮れて良かったよ～。

今回は足利のフラワーパーク。結構な広さで素晴らしかった。結構有名らしく、観光バスもたくさん来ていた。

ウルトラマンやクワガタなどのライトもあって、たあくんは非常に喜んだ。

更に、サンタさんからクッキーも貰った。

We went to see Christmas light again with my mom, this time.

We saw a Ultra man light, Beatle light and Flower light. Taka was so excited.

８ヶ月 8 month old

なおくんが８ヶ月になった。９キロになった。
最近のお気に入りのおもちゃは積み木。しかもこの積み木、私が小さい頃に、徳島のまさよちゃんがくれた物。私の小さい頃のおもちゃはこれしか残っていないらしいけど、たあくんもなおくんも大好きなおもちゃ。なおくんは、この積み木を箱に入れたり出したりして遊ぶ。その隣でたあくんがお城を作って遊ぶ。
Naoki is 8 month old now. And he is about 20 pounds.
His favorite toy is wood blocks. This block is mine that from my aunt Masayo over 30 years ago. This is only toy I still have.

サエコの結婚式

親友のサエコの結婚式に出席してきた。

サエコはとっても綺麗だったし、式も披露宴もとっても良かった。サエコのお姉さんのミヤコさん・旦那さんのキコリさん・赤ちゃんのユウヒ君、サエコの従兄弟のまさと・マキそしてその家族・サエコのご両親にも久しぶりに会えたし、高校の時の同級生のマユミ・ももちゃん・ちひろちゃん・ヒヤマ・ヒトピーにも会えた。とっても楽しかった。

何より、良いタイミングで帰って来ることが出来て、出席できて良かった。本当に帰ってきて良かった。たあくんもなおくんもお母さんと亜由美と一緒に会場の近くで待っていてくれたんだけれど、とっても良い子に待てて本当に良かった。

サエコ、タカトシさんおめでとうございます。

大平町のクリスマスライト Christmas Light

隣の大平町でもクリスマスライトを付け始めたと言うことで、じいちゃん（父）と見に行ってきた。







何だか日本はどこもかしこもクリスマスライトがあって、アメリカよりもクリスマスを祝っているようだ。町によってはライトの付けすぎで赤字だという話もある。日本は大丈夫かなぁ・・・。



We went to see Christmas light in Ohira-machi where is our nighbor village.
Now there are Christmas light everywhere in Japan. Looks like many community trying to make money from people come look christmas light but I have heard some of cmmunity have a loss. I really concern about Japanese economy.

焼き芋 Baked Sweet Potato

今日は焼き芋を焼いてみた。寒いし、こういうおやつが一番！！！
我が家にはストーブがあるので、ストーブの上にアルミホイルで包んだお芋を置いて約２０分。小さい芋だったのですぐに焼けたよ。








We baked sweet potato. It has been cold here. So hot baked sweet poteto is best snak for Taka.

あんみつ Anmistu

お母さんとうどん屋に行った。

なおくんは、初めての座椅子。

そして、デザートにクリームあんみつを頂きました。やっぱり日本のスイーツは美味しい～。

We went to Udon noodle shop. Naoki sat on Japanese chair first time.

And I ate Anmitsu which is Japanese sea weeds jelly, Azuki beans, ice creem, some fruit and brown sugar sirup. As I thought it was good!

じじと With Great-Grandpa

たあくんとなおくんとじじ（ひいじいちゃん）。

じじは８０歳。まだまだ元気。

My Grandpa is 80 years old.

He is still fine.

じいちゃんと With Grandpa

先週の日曜日、たあくんはじいちゃんの手伝いをした。２人で長靴を履いて、犬小屋の掃除をしていた。たあくんは大きい犬と遊んでとっても楽しかったんだって。

Taka helped his Granpa to clean up Dog house last weekend. They wore rain boots!!!
Taka enjoyed playing with two big dogs.

でこぼこフレンズ Deko-Boko Friends

今日はジャスコにでこぼこフレンズが来たので、ショーを見に行った。

たあくんは時々しか見られないので良く知らないのかと思っていたら、食いしんぼ～んとメロディーヌのことは知っていて、一緒に踊ったりして、結構喜んで見てくれた。

We went to see Japanes TV character show "Deko-Boko Friends". Taka dose not have chance to see that TV program often, so I thought he dose not well. But he knows well.

He did dance, jump & sing with children. He really enjoyed that show.

クリスマス・イルミネーション Christmas Illiminations

田沼の道の駅にクリスマス・イルミネーションを見てきた。そんなに大きくはないけれど、寒いし、たあくんにはこのぐらいの規模でちょうど良かった。











We went to see Christmas illuminations near our home. It was small but it was cold, so it was OK size.

アウトレット Outlet mall

今日はアウトレットモールに行ってきた。と言っても、中に公園があったりレゴのお店があるのでお買い物がメインではなく、遊びがメイン。結局、買った物は、たあくんのジーンズだけ。





なおくんは、今日も良い子にしてました。

We went to Outlet mall in Sano City where 20 mins from our home.

There are big play grand and Lego shop in the outlet mall. A purpose of we went there was for Taka's activity, it was not for shopping. So we just bought Taka's Jeans.

Naoki was so quiet as usual.

だんご A rice dumpling

たあくんは日本に来る前から「お団子を作ってみたい！」と言っていたので、作ってみた。
Taka told me that he wanted make a rice dumpling. So we made it!








お米の粉をこねて、丸めて・・・
Taka made dough by rice flour.





丸めたお団子を茹でて・・・
He boiled rice dumpling.



お母さんが作ってくれたあんこをのせて・・・いただきま～す。
Let's eat with Azuki beans that my mom cooked!!!
